Dental Decay & Sealants

Dr. Faulk will tell you that regular brushing and flossing lowers the chance of your children developing cavities. However, sometimes good habits alone aren't enough. The most decay-prone areas of teeth are the grooves and depressions on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. These vulnerable areas require further preventive care. To protect kids' teeth from decay, a plastic-like coating called a sealant should be painted on the chewing surfaces of all the back teeth.

It's a simple process that's extremely effective: studies have shown that sealants can reduce tooth decay by as much as 90% to 100%. Please call Faulk Dental Associates PA at (855) 391-5675 with any questions you may have about the benefits of using a sealant in preventing dental decay.

Foods That Stain Your Teeth

Did you know that tea can stain your teeth even more than coffee? Many other foods can cause tooth staining, including deeply colored sauces like tomato and curry, highly-acidic sports and energy drinks, red wine, cola, dark berries, artificially colored candy and many others.

At Faulk Dental Associates PA we recommend that you rinse your mouth with water after consuming any of these stain causing food, or use a straw to sip sodas and iced tea. Please call us at (855) 391-5675 if you have any questions about foods and your dental health.

When Should My Child First See a Dentist?

'First visit by first birthday' sums it up. Your child should visit a dentist when the first tooth comes in, usually between six and twelve months of age. Early examination and preventive care will protect your child's smile now and in the future. If you have questions regarding your baby's teeth, please call Faulk Dental Associates PA at (855) 391-5675 and we’ll be glad to provide the answers.
